Ocean Basket, South Africa’s favourite seafood destination, organised an exciting golf day on 10 November at Wingate Park Country Club in Pretoria. The event was in support of the South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative, SASSI, and generated over R60 000,00.
SASSI aims to ensure the sustainability of seafood, which is an increasingly popular choice of protein amongst consumers. Seafood has become the most traded commodity in the world, which has put some types of fish at risk.
Ocean Basket subscribes to the guidelines laid out by SASSI and is currently the largest user of aqua-culture products in Southern Africa, from their delicious prawns to Nile Perch and Tilapia. Ocean Basket has set a standard of great quality and consistent availability, a challenge and mindset necessary for us all to enjoy seafood in the future.
The success of the fund raising initiative was largely due to the overwhelming support received from sponsors, who included Tony’s Liquors (Pretoria), Brand House, Champagne Sports Resort, Importalia, and JAFFA (The Jewish Accommodation For Fellow Aged), among others. The sensational sponsorships included cash prizes, collectable liquor items, coffee machines and fabulous holidays.
Over 130 players participated in the golf day and golfers flocked onto the greens for a great day of entertainment and excitement courtesy of Ocean Basket, the seafood sensation.
