The Ocean Basket Franchise Group is a resounding success with 145 restaurants established worldwide. South Africa boasts 135 restaurants, the remainder of the African continent five and Europe four. The latest addition, Mauritius, proves yet again that Ocean Basket is at the forefront of international restaurant franchise expansion.
The recently opened Ocean Basket restaurant is located at the new Bagatelle Mall in the heart of Mauritius, between Port Louis and the emerging Cyber City growth Zone. This is South Africa’s first major offshore mall and covers 40 000 m². Ocean Basket opened its doors to the Mauritian public in late September, along with a number of familiar South African retailers and other popular restaurants.
The Mauritian market will be the second international territory Ocean Basket has entered into, with Cyprus boasting the brand’s first four international restaurants.
Mauritian culture is rooted in a passion for seafood and family, which means that the Ocean Basket restaurant is a perfect fit. There is also a constant South African presence with an established expat community.
Unique differences on the menu include a fresh line fish, traditional Mauritian scampi, and a variety of other fresh fish which is delivered to the restaurant daily. These elements appeal directly to the Mauritian market and add considerably to Ocean Basket’s dedication to their value-for-money principles.
The launch of the Cyprian and Mauritian restaurants has contributed to international exposure and an increase in international interest. This has proved invaluable in further entrenching Ocean Basket as a global brand.
